14ct gold contains approximately 58.5% pure gold, with the balance consisting of other metals.

18ct gold contains approximately 75% pure gold.

22ct gold contains approximately 91.6% pure gold.

24ct gold is essentially pure gold, commonly represented as approximately 99.9% pure.

A hallmark or purity stamp is a marking indicating the fineness or karat of a precious-metal item. Examples include 375, 585, 750 and 916.

Don't assume it has no value. Older jewellery or certain pieces may not have an obvious hallmark. We can still assess and test the item.

No. Gold-plated items have a layer of gold over another material and should not be valued in the same way as solid gold. Bring it in and we'll assess it.

Because two pieces with the same weight can contain different gold purities, construction, stones, and other materials. We need to assess the actual item before making an accurate offer.

No. Weight is only one part of the assessment. Purity, construction, stones, brand and the characteristics of the item can all be relevant.

We quote to purchase the entire qualifying piece of jewellery as presented, rather than simply giving a generic gold content per gram figure.

Age can be relevant depending on the item, but an old piece is not automatically worth less. We assess each item individually.

Condition can affect the value of certain items, particularly branded or luxury pieces. However, broken or damaged gold jewellery may still have substantial precious metal value.

Where jewellery contains diamonds or gemstones, these can be assessed as part of the overall item where applicable.
