Gold Jewellery
We don't believe a simple price-per-gram quote tells the full story. Every piece is different. We need to see, test and weigh your jewellery and assess its actual gold purity and characteristics before making an offer. We quote on the actual piece, not just a generic price per gram.
We buy a wide range of gold jewellery, including rings, chains, bracelets, bangles, earrings, pendants, necklaces and other gold items.
Yes. Old or dated jewellery can still contain significant amounts of gold and may have considerable value.
Yes. Broken chains, damaged bracelets, single earrings and other broken pieces can still have value because the underlying precious-metal content may be valuable.
Yes. Jewellery doesn't have to be fashionable to have value. The composition and overall characteristics of the piece are assessed.
Yes. Single earrings and mismatched pieces can still be assessed.
Yes. Don't spend hours trying to untangle them. Bring them to us and we'll assess them.
No. Gold jewellery does not generally require its original box for us to assess it.
Not necessarily. Bring whatever documentation you have, but the absence of an original receipt does not automatically prevent us from assessing your jewellery.
No. We can conduct our own professional assessment of the items you bring to us.
Gold Purity & Testing
We don't believe a simple price-per-gram quote tells the full story. Every piece is different. We need to see, test and weigh your jewellery before making an offer.
9ct gold contains approximately 37.5% pure gold, with the remainder made up of other metals.
14ct gold contains approximately 58.5% pure gold, with the balance consisting of other metals.
18ct gold contains approximately 75% pure gold.
22ct gold contains approximately 91.6% pure gold.
24ct gold is essentially pure gold, commonly represented as approximately 99.9% pure.
A hallmark or purity stamp is a marking indicating the fineness or karat of a precious-metal item. Examples include 375, 585, 750 and 916.
Don't assume it has no value. Older jewellery or certain pieces may not have an obvious hallmark. We can still assess and test the item.
Yes. Testing forms an important part of determining the characteristics of the jewellery before an offer is made.
Yes. We use professional testing equipment such as an XRF Metal Analyzer to assist in determining the composition of an item.
Yes. White gold jewellery can be assessed and tested.
Yes. Rose gold jewellery can also be assessed.
No. Gold-plated items have a layer of gold over another material and should not be valued in the same way as solid gold. Bring it in and we'll assess it.
How We Value Your Jewellery
Because two pieces with the same weight can contain different gold purities, construction, stones, and other materials. We need to assess the actual item before making an accurate offer.
No. Weight is only one part of the assessment. Purity, construction, stones, brand and the characteristics of the item can all be relevant.
We quote to purchase the entire qualifying piece of jewellery as presented, rather than simply giving a generic gold content per gram figure.
Age can be relevant depending on the item, but an old piece is not automatically worth less. We assess each item individually.
Condition can affect the value of certain items, particularly branded or luxury pieces. However, broken or damaged gold jewellery may still have substantial precious metal value.
Where jewellery contains diamonds or gemstones, these can be assessed as part of the overall item where applicable.
Potentially. Recognised brands, craftsmanship and collectability can contribute additional value depending on the piece.
No. We don't deduct a commission from the agreed purchase offer.
No. We believe the amount we quote should be clear and transparent. What we quote is what you get.
We'll explain our assessment and present you with an offer. You can then decide whether you want to accept it.
Krugerrands & Gold Coins
We don't believe a simple price-per-gram quote tells the full story. We need to inspect and assess each coin before making an offer.
Yes. We buy qualifying gold Krugerrands.
We buy the standard fractional sizes, including: 1oz, 1/2oz, 1/4oz and 1/10oz. These are the four standard bullion denominations.
A standard gold Krugerrand is 22ct gold, approximately 91.67% gold, with the remaining alloy traditionally being copper.
A 1oz Krugerrand contains one troy ounce of pure gold within the 22ct alloy.
Yes. The year of a gold Krugerrand does not automatically prevent us from assessing it.
Proof coins can be assessed separately because their collector characteristics may differ from ordinary bullion coins. Bring the coin and any accompanying documentation for assessment.
Bring it in. We'll assess the coin rather than assuming that scratches make it worthless.
Yes. We also buy Gold Sovereigns, Gold Natura Sets and selected international gold coins. Selected silver coins may also be considered.
No. R5 Mandela coins are worth R5.
Not necessarily. Bring any documentation you have, but we can assess the coin itself.
Yes. You can bring your jewellery and qualifying gold coins to the same appointment.
Luxury Watches
Watch values depend on brand, model, reference, condition, originality, and documentation. We need to physically inspect the watch before making an accurate offer.
Yes. We assess selected luxury watches for purchase.
We consider recognised luxury brands such as Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Richard Mille, Cartier, Omega, Breitling, Tudor, IWC, Panerai, Roger Dubuis, Mont Blanc and others.
We consider factors such as the brand, model, reference, condition, age, originality, materials, functionality, market demand and available documentation.
Yes. Original boxes, papers, warranty cards and other documentation can be important when assessing a luxury watch.
A watch without papers can still be assessed. However, documentation can assist with authentication, provenance, and valuation.
Not necessarily. A non-functioning watch can still be assessed, although its condition and mechanical state may affect the offer.
Luxury watches require a more detailed assessment than ordinary jewellery. We inspect the watch and its relevant characteristics before making an offer.

Asset-Backed Loans
The loan amount is based on a professional assessment of the asset's value. We need to inspect, test and value the item before confirming any loan offer.
Yes. We offer short-term asset-backed lending against qualifying valuables.
Depending on the circumstances, qualifying jewellery, gold, luxury watches, gold coins and other valuable assets may be considered.
You bring your qualifying asset to our office for assessment. If the item and transaction qualify, we determine a loan amount and explain the terms. If you accept, the asset is securely held while the loan remains outstanding.
No. An asset-backed loan is different from selling your jewellery. The asset serves as security for the loan and is held according to the agreed loan terms.
Selected luxury watches may qualify, subject to authentication, valuation, condition, and the applicable loan criteria.
Selected gold coins may qualify for asset-backed lending, subject to assessment and the applicable loan terms.
The amount depends on the asset and its assessed value, including factors such as gold content, weight, gemstones, brand, condition, and market value.
Once the asset has been assessed and the loan has been approved and accepted, funds can be made available immediately according to the agreed transaction terms.
